Antique Veramin carpets are widely esteemed as some of the finest Persian workshop weavings, celebrated for their outstanding craftsmanship, refined drawing, an extensive palette of rich vegetable-dyed colours, and distinctive designs that clearly distinguish them from those of neighboring regions – they remain among our personal favourite categories of Persian carpet, for the timeless, well balanced quality of their compositions.

The delightful pomegranate blossom lattice featured in this early 20th Century Veramin carpet traces its origins to 18th-century Azerbaijani rugs and represents prosperity, fertility, and longevity. As an early example, it displays an exceptionally fine weave, giving remarkable clarity to its all-over pattern. The soft sky-blue field enhances the bold, large-scale design, beautifully framed by a broad earthy border.

This piece remains in very good original condition – the harmonious vegetable-dyed colours and hand-spun wool have matured gracefully over time.
