Antique Veramin carpets are widely recognized as among the most exceptional Persian workshop weavings, best known for their remarkable quality, fine crisp drawings, wide variety of rich vegetable-dyed colours, and a range of characteristic designs that set these carpets apart from those from the neighboring regions.

This fine Nineteenth Century example employs a rich sky-blue ground, serving as a deep backdrop to the variety of vegetable dyes colours in its design, including shades of red, terracotta, ivory, cornflower blue, and sage green, framed by a highly creative decorative border. The all-over pomegranate blossom design is derived from earlier Azerbaijani rugs of the 18th century, symbolizing prosperity, fertility, and eternal life; another attractive feature is how these motifs have been woven in generous proportions with regard to its size.

Retained in very good condition for everyday use, this carpet maintains its original outer borders on all sides – remarkable for a piece of this age.
