Antique Heriz Runner
Antique Heriz Runner
£ 3,400
Early Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction, and creative use of vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs and have always stood out for their striking tribal motifs. In our experience, Heriz carpets prove to be among the most versatile decorative weavings, with the ability to unite both modern and traditional design elements in a room.
This handsome early 20th Century example showcases a simplified, charmingly naive graphic pattern, in earthy vegetable-dyed tones of tan and sky blue, over a soft terracotta field. A bold, striking composition, especially in relation to this piece’s narrow format.
Retained in very good practical condition for everyday use, with its decorative outer borders retained on all sides. It’s organic dyes have taken on a fine patina with age.
A charming tribal runner, with an expressive design to add character to a variety of interiors.
