Antique Karabagh rugs are highly prized by both collectors and interior designers, celebrated for their remarkable range of patterns and for embodying some of the oldest traditions in Caucasian weaving. They are often regarded as among the finest examples of craftsmanship and artistry from the region.

This 19th Centurt example stands out as one of the most exceptional of its kind that we have encountered in many years. Its tightly knotted weave gives remarkable precision to the design, which showcases an uncommon floral pattern repeated across the field in alternating bands, in wonderful vegetable dyed tones of muted terracotta, duck egg blue and sage green. The composition is framed by a wide, decorative terracotta border, creating a lively and imaginative effect that feels both sophisticated and spontaneous.

Well preserved in very good condition, the runner’s natural vegetable dyes have mellowed over time, resulting in a soft, graceful patina, with some age-related restoration work, completed to a high standard..

A truly striking piece, it would bring character and refinement to a wide array of interiors.
