Beshir rugs are woven by the Beshir tribe of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. They have a distinctive weaving style in a region where most rugs by neighbouring tribes can be recognised by their so called elephant foot pattern and their deep blues and reds. This early Beshir Runner has an artistic naive drawing framed by a wide simple border. The vegetable dyed colours have aged nicely with the terracotta particularly attractive. Has minimal age-related wear but is in good practical condition. Rare in this long format.
