Early Isfahan Long Carpet
Early Isfahan Long Carpet
Isfahan, the ancient capital of Persia, was the creative hub of amazing Persian art and textiles during the 17th century Safavafid period and Isfahan rugs lay claim to this proud tradition. Many of the court quality carpets that survive today are attributed to Isfahan.
This early Isfahan long rug with its harmonious colour combination of ivory, olive green, terracotta and sky blue, has a less common overall pattern in comparison to classical examples of its type. It is in very good condition, still retaining its original fringes and selvedges on all sides.
