Antique Veramin carpets are widely recognized as among the most exceptional Persian workshop weavings, best known for their remarkable quality, fine crisp drawings, wide variety of rich vegetable-dyed colours, and a range of characteristic designs that set these carpets apart from those from the neighboring regions.

The charming pomegranate blossom lattice employed in the design of this early 20th Century Veramin carpet is derived from earlier Azerbaijani rugs of the 18th century and symbolizes prosperity, fertility, and longevity. Since this is an earlier example, it boasts a very high-grade weave, lending a crisp clarity to its all-over pattern. The light sky-blue field complements the large-scale drawing, framed by a wide terracotta border.

This piece is in very good to excellent original condition, still retaining its original fringes at both ends and original borders on all four sides. The harmonious vegetable-dyed colours and hand-spun wool have aged nicely. A timeless example to complement a wide variety of settings.
