This antique Tabriz is associated with the world-renowned Master weaver, Hadji Jalili, who created some of the most elegant pieces of the late 19th/early 20th century. His workshop was famous for its artistic drawings and the use of soft understated colours. This handsome rug has a settled drawing and muted colour combination of tan, ivory and grey.

The city of Tabriz in north west Persia has been a major city of fine rug weaving since the 14th century, possibly earlier. Antique Tabriz carpets are distinguished by their excellent weave and remarkable adherence to the traditions of classical Persian rug design.

This early Tabriz is in very good to excellent original condition.  It has still retained its original outer borders and short fringes on both sides.

An elegant timeless rug that would beautifully complement a classic or contemporary space.
