These pieces are extraordinarily finely woven, showcasing richly detailed motifs, borrowed from ancient tribal symbols, with an expressive, playful character and bold natural dyed colours.

This wonderful c. 1920s example is one of those rare finds which, despite its age, has a distinctly modern feel – it employs soft, earthy tones of tan, red ochre, and tobacco, in repeated bands across the field, accented with creatively drawn, delicate abstract motifs which add a real feeling of character to its otherwise stripped back, minimalist design.
